SW Rochester (St. John’s)

Our SW Rochester center is located on the St. John’s nursing home campus. Child care and elder care are brought together each week so classrooms get to experience intergenerational programming with residents of the nursing home.

Located next to The Highland Botanical Park, children have the opportunity of exploring nature at it’s best. The Lamberton Conservatory is within easy walking distance of our center- a perk we often take advantage of.

A Word From Our Director:

My history with Generations goes back to 2005 when I decided to leave my teaching career and become the site director at our Fairport location. I spent several years there until I had my own son. I always wanted to be at home with my children while they were young, so Generations graciously allowed me to go part time. In doing so, I was able to travel to all of our locations and got I to know many wonderful families and staff members. Now I am a mother of two amazing children whom have taught me a lot over the last 7 years. I recently decided, with my youngest child getting ready for Kindergarten, that I am ready to work full time again. In doing so, I have made my work home at our St. John’s location. It is always exciting getting know everyone and becoming a part of this family as well.

A Word From Our Classroom Coordinator:

I have been working for Generations since the Summer of 1996 just after Graduation from High School. I was not sure what I wanted to be “when I grew up” and I was looking for something to do for the summer. Well, I have been there ever since and could not imagine being anywhere else. I fell in love with how every day is different and how the children look forward to seeing the staff. Their love is unconditional and how can you not love that?

I live not even a mile away from our St. John’s location and I have the pleasure of seeing the children I work with while taking my dogs for a walk or going by the local playground. I was also a very fortunate parent to be able to have had my own (now 17 year old) son attend Generations from the ages of 6 weeks until he was 12. Additionally, I am very close to my Grandparents and so I believe the Intergenerational programming that Generations offers is a wonderful and unique opportunity for both the children and grandparents alike. I am so proud to be part of this amazing team.
